KBOC_BB1 - LCD Example Movie
This page shows the real performance of the KBOC_BB1. This demonstration shows the system playing two movie trailers and running a word processor. At the beginning, the system configuration is shown under yellow lab lights: KBOC System Module with KBOC_BB1 baseboard, USB mouse, USB keyboard, LCD connection, SD card, and input power jack. Please note: this demonstration is executed using the OMAP3503 - the least expensive member of the OMAP35xx family!
The first movie trailer shown includes excerpts from an open movie titled Elephants Dream. This trailer is somewhat dark, but the frame rate is great on the system and playback is smooth.
The second movie trailer shown is also an open movie titled Big Buck Bunny. This trailer is brighter and the frame rate is also great on the system.
The final step in this demonstration is to run a word processor, AbiWord, to show the application load time is brief.
LCDs do not generate as much light as other displays such as DVI or VGA monitors. As a result, the movie must be recorded under low-light conditions resulting in dimished quality. The movie shows jitter and clipping in some portions, but this is not reflective of actual performance which is smooth. Please see the VGA demonstration for comparison. In practice, the sample LCD used provides good illumination and contrast.
